Drinking water is not allowed on school property for the next few weeks, a statement from the Nassau County Department of Education confirmed Friday.
The water supply in Nassau schools is located in the community’s recreation area, the statement said.
The department has received complaints from some of the schools about the use of the drinking water, but did not specify how many.
The drinking water for all schools is safe, and students will be able to use it once they are back in school.
The district will have a designated area where drinking water can be collected.
Nassau County Public Schools will also begin limiting the use and distribution of bottled water, and limiting the time that children can bring their own beverages to school.
A public health officer will also be deployed at the schools to monitor the water supply, the district said.NASSAU COUNTY Public Schools said it is looking into what other school districts have done to limit the use or distribution of drinking water.
The statement said the department is not looking into the possibility of any additional violations in Nassu County.
The county said in a statement that it is working to address the issue.
